I'm in love with the COCO...nut oil

Last week I went to my usual grocery store and they had new ‘super food’ stuff. One of these super foods was also using coconut oil for baking and cooking. I am always very exciting to try new things so I bought a little jar for starters.

Later at home I was making me some delicious salade when I tried the coconut oil for the first time to cook my chicken with! IT was delicious! And for cooking it is as simple as cooking with butter. After dinner I looked up all the benefits coconut oil could give you and because there are a lot I’ve made a summary for you guys ;) I hope you like it and try it out for sure.

1)    Obviously, baking and cooking

As coconut oil is one of the richest sources of saturated fat you can find, with around 90% of calories as saturated fat. This makes coconut oil highly resistant to oxidation at high heats. For this reason, it is the perfect oil for high-heat cooking methods like frying. These fatty acids go straight from the digestive tract to the liver, where they are likely to be turned into ketone bodies and provide a quick source of energy.
Also if you are trying to lose those last pounds coconut oil is a very good substitution for butter because of its healthy sources.

2)     Damaged Hair

Because I straighten or blow dry my hair almost everyday, my hair can look very damaged, frizzy and dry. As I looked on the internet people were saying coconut oil could really nurish your hair and hydrate those split ends.

I already tried this out and I have to say I expected my hair to be more nurished and soft than it was. Maybe it was because of the contrast with the mask of l’Oreal I u sed the week before that. My hair didn’t seem as nurished as it was with coconut oil as when I nurished my hair with the mask. But as we all know, these commercial hair masks contain a lot of chemicals added to make your hair softer and more smooth whereas coconut oil nurishes your hair naturally. Therefore I am going to use the coconut oil more often to see if it gives me the wanted result on long term.

For those of you who want to try out this cheap luxurious nutrition for you hair, I have this cute video of GlamCandy to share who goes through all the steps with you guys: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1xX14OdoaQ

3)      Skin Treatment

Coconut oil makes a good skin moisturizer on its own, with a blend of other oils, or as a carrier for essential oils. Also can this be added to lotions and creams that need extra moisturizing properties. I made a list of my top 10 things you can do to improve your skin using coconut oil:
  • Make it a body scrub by adding sugar
  • Apply when having stretch marks
  • Tanning oil
  • Apply on your skin when you have to shave, no need for those chemicals anymore
  • Removes eye- and face makeup
  • Use as a lip balm
  • By itself or with baking soda as a naturally whitening toothpaste
  • When used consistently on skin it can help get rid of cellulite
  • Reduces the itch of mosquito bites
  • Can help resolve acne when used regularly

If you have any great tips and hints for me using coconut oil, I am very glad to receive them so comment below.

Much lovee xxxx
